Lori Lee is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Coordinator of the Anthropology Program at Flagler College, affiliated with the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology specializing in Historical Archaeology from Syracuse University's Maxwell School, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Middle East Technical University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the same institution.
Her research examines African Diaspora communities, material culture, gender dynamics, migration patterns, and memory through archaeological methodologies. Primary research areas include:
- Historical archaeology of enslaved communities
- Health consumerism in antebellum societies
- Race and power negotiations in cultural narratives
- Urban anthropology and cultural landscapes
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on plantation archaeology, material culture analysis, and African American heritage, with recent expansion into climate change impacts on cultural heritage preservation. She has conducted fieldwork at multiple Virginia plantation sites including Poplar Forest and Wingo's Quarter.
Dr. Lee teaches courses spanning Cultural Anthropology, Historical Archaeology, Forensic Anthropology, African Diaspora Religions, and Urban Anthropology, serving as faculty advisor to the Archaeology Club.
