Lori Astheimer

Lori Astheimer is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She holds a PhD from the Neuroscience & Behavior Graduate Program at UMass Amherst (2011), with a dissertation titled Attentional Cues During Speech Perception and a master's thesis on Listeners Modulate Temporally Selective Attention during Natural Speech Processing.

Her research focuses on the interplay between attention and language processing in both children and adults. Utilizing event-related potentials (ERPs) and neuroimaging techniques, she investigates how linguistic experience influences attentional mechanisms during speech perception and explores how attention training can enhance cognitive processing and language proficiency.
