Lorenzo Vitale is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Trieste. He serves on the Department's Board and participates in various Boards of Studies and Doctoral Studies Boards for Physics programs across multiple doctoral cycles (XXXVI, XXXVII, XXXVIII, and XXXIX).
His research spans several key areas of experimental physics:
- Experimental Particle Physics and Fundamental Interactions
- Detector Physics, particularly with synthetic diamond materials
- High Energy Physics through the Belle II experiment
- Computational Physics and Quantum Computing applications
Professor Vitale is an active participant in the National Center for HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing research project, which has a total funding of €2,261,165.73 and runs from September 1, 2022, to February 28, 2026. This project represents a significant investment in advancing computational methods for physics research in Italy.
As a member and external expert on multiple Doctoral Studies Boards, Professor Vitale plays a key role in shaping graduate education and research in physics at the University of Trieste, mentoring the next generation of physicists.
