Lorenzo Venturello

Lorenzo Venturello is a Tenure Track Researcher (RTT) in Algebra at the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, University of Siena since February 2024. He holds a national scientific habilitation (ASN) to qualify as an Associate Professor (II fascia). His research focuses on geometric and topological combinatorics, exploring interactions between combinatorial structures (polytopes, simplicial complexes, matroids) and algebraic objects, with applications in commutative algebra and applied algebraic geometry.

Education:

• PhD in Mathematics from Universität Osnabrück (Germany), supervised by Martina Juhnke-Kubitzke.
• Member of the DFG Research Training Group 'Combinatorial Structures in Geometry.'

Previous Positions:

• Researcher (RTDA) at University of Pisa.
• Postdoc in the Combinatorics Group at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (2017-2022), supervised by Petter Brändén.
• Postdoc in the Nonlinear Algebra Group at Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS), Leipzig (2019-2020), under Bernd Sturmfels.

Research Interests: Lorenzo investigates triangulations of manifolds, combinatorial topology, and algebraic tools for analyzing geometric structures. He emphasizes computational methods and software applications in his work.
