Lorenzo Sacconi

Lorenzo Sacconi is a Full Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Milan and coordinates the PhD program LEES (Law, Ethics, and Economics for Sustainability). He directs the interuniversity center EconomEtica and serves on multiple advisory boards, including the Forum disuguaglianze e diversità (Inequality and Diversity Forum) and the scientific committee of Gruppo per il bilancio sociale (GBS). As president of the Bresciani–Turroni Foundation until 2022, he previously held the Unicredit Chair in Economic Ethics at the University of Trento. His research focuses on corporate social responsibility (CSR), business ethics, and sustainable governance, with a particular emphasis on social inequality, democratic reforms in corporate structures, and the integration of environmental and social policies into economic frameworks.

His academic contributions include over 150 works on topics like CSR, experimental economics, and institutional design. Key areas of exploration include the intersection of law and economics, governance of universities and firms, and the application of Rawlsian and Senian theories to corporate and social contexts. Recent projects emphasize Europe’s 2030 Agenda, inclusive AI, and migration policies.

Publications highlight experimental analyses of distributive justice, governance reforms in Italian universities, and the role of social capital in CSR. He advocates for democratic economic governance through works councils and stakeholder participation, aligning with EU-funded initiatives like the MUSA project for urban sustainability. His interdisciplinary approach bridges ethics, economics, and policy to address systemic inequalities and sustainable development challenges.
