Lorenzo Pezzani is an Associate Professor in the Department of the Arts at the University of Bologna. He holds a PhD in Research Architecture from Goldsmiths, University of London, and has held academic positions including Reader in Forensic Architecture at Goldsmiths (2022), Lecturer in Forensic Architecture (2016–2022), and Teaching Fellow at the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL, 2012–2015). His work bridges academia, art, and activism, focusing on migration, border violence, and environmental crises.
He co-founded projects like Forensic Oceanography and Border Forensics, applying interdisciplinary methods to investigate (im-)mobilities and spatial politics. Currently, he directs the LIMINAL research lab at the University of Bologna and leads the ERC-funded Hostile Environments project. His research has been used as legal evidence, published in media, and exhibited globally.
