Lorenzo Mauro is a PhD student and Research Fellow at Sapienza University of Rome, affiliated with the Alcor laboratory. He has contributed to the European Horizon 2020 project "SecondHands" since January 2017, focusing on action recognition for robotic assistance systems, and is currently in the 35th cycle of the PhD program in Computer Engineering researching multi-conditioned GANs for user-guided realistic image generation.
His academic background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering (2015)
- Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (2017) with thesis "Deep Reinforcement Learning for Visual Search"
Mauro's research centers on computer vision and deep learning, with primary expertise in generative adversarial networks for hyperrealistic image synthesis under multiple conditioning constraints. His work bridges computer graphics and action recognition, reflecting active engagement in research communities focused on Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and image generation methodologies. Current efforts aim to enhance controllability and realism in synthetic imagery through advanced GAN architectures.
As a Research Fellow at Alcor lab, he applies these techniques to real-world robotic vision challenges within the Horizon 2020 framework, demonstrating practical integration of generative models with action understanding systems.
