Lone Kørnøv is a Professor at the Department of Planning, Aalborg University, within the Technical Faculty of IT and Design. She is affiliated with the Danish Centre for Environmental Assessment and AAU Arctic, contributing to research and policy on sustainability and environmental planning. Her work spans strategic environmental assessment, decision-making processes, and integration of biodiversity into infrastructure policy.
Her research interests focus on strategic environmental assessment (SEA), sustainability planning, environmental governance, and public participation in decision-making. She explores how large infrastructure projects impact nature, climate, and democratic processes, advocating for more integrated and equitable planning. Her work also addresses circular economy models and the role of academia in catalyzing sustainable growth.
The recent publications and conference activities (2020–2025) reflect a strong emphasis on environmental assessment practices in Denmark and Europe, biodiversity mainstreaming, infrastructure sustainability, and knowledge transfer through databases and workshops. Themes include policy coherence, stakeholder engagement, and the digitalization of environmental reporting.

Lone Kørnøv has supervised 10 PhD students and is actively involved in research projects, peer review, and editorial roles. Her team collaborates with public agencies, industry partners, and international researchers to advance evidence-based environmental governance and support Denmark’s green transition.
