Lodewijk Tielens is a Visiting Researcher at the Cell Biology, Metabolism & Cancer department within the School of Biomolecular Health Sciences at Utrecht University. His work focuses on biochemical adaptations in parasites, particularly host-parasite interactions of schistosomes, aiming to identify novel factors modulating host immune systems and hemostasis, as well as unique processes like energy metabolism for therapeutic targets.
His research also explores aerobic/anaerobic metabolism in protists and metabolic disorders in ruminants. He is involved in teaching the course Metabolism and maintains active research collaborations.
