Dr Lloyd Davies holds an Honorary Appointment (Arts) in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Swansea University, where he teaches Latin American Culture and Translation (Spanish-English) in the School of Culture and Communication. He supervises six doctoral students and focuses on contemporary Latin American literature, feminist literary criticism, and translation theory. His research includes projects on Jorge Luis Borges, Caribbean women’s writing, and cultural challenges in translation.
He edits the literary journal Romance Studies, fostering young scholars, and collaborates with interdisciplinary groups like CEPSAM, addressing environmental and digital ecology issues. He has published extensively on Latin American literature, including the 2020 book Madness and Irrationality in Spanish and Latin American Literature and Culture.
Recent research explores themes like temporal representation in Juan José Saer’s work and psychological trauma in Mexican literature. His contributions bridge literary analysis with cultural and historical contexts, emphasizing feminist and postcolonial perspectives.
Dr Davies coordinates the Romance Studies International Colloquia and collaborates with the Iberian and Latin American Association in Wales (ILA), promoting interdisciplinary projects such as the 'Iberian and Latin American Heritage Project.'
