Ljiljana Radonić

Ljiljana Radonić is a Senior Research Associate/Group Leader at the Institute for Cultural Studies and Theatre History of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. She leads the ERC Consolidator Grant-funded project Globalized Memorial Museums: Exhibiting Atrocities in the Era of Claims for Moral Universals (2019–2024). Her research focuses on post-socialist memorial museums, history politics, and cultural memory in Eastern Europe.

She holds an APART scholarship (2013–2017) and an Elise Richter Programme FWF Grant (2018–2019). In 2020, she earned the Venia Political Science qualification at the Institute of Political Science. Her work examines museums such as Tallinn’s Museum of Occupations, Riga’s Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, and Budapest’s House of Terror.

Her research integrates analysis of memorialization practices, transnational memory dynamics, and the intersection of political identity with historical narratives. Despite the website’s archived status, her projects remain active and influential in cultural and political studies.
