Lizzie Twelves

Lizzie Twelves serves as Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Management within the Department of Social Care and Social Work at Manchester Metropolitan University, joining in May 2024. She teaches Health and Social Care Degree Apprentices across the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship program and will lead the new Leadership and Management Professional Degree Apprenticeship starting September 2025. As Module Leader for Managing Change and Innovation and Leadership and Management of People (LMP), she is an accredited facilitator for the NHS Mary Seacole Leadership Programme.

Her research focuses on compassion in organizational contexts, educational coaching methodologies, leadership development frameworks, systems thinking applications, and health inequality dynamics. Drawing from over 20 years of executive experience in NHS and Integrated Care Systems transformation, she integrates practical insights from commissioning, quality improvement, and strategic development into her academic work. Prior consultancy engagements with community sectors, social businesses, and local government inform her approach to service transformation and leadership education.
