Liz Vivas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on Complex Dynamics, Several Complex Variables, and Complex Geometry, with particular interest in connections to other mathematical fields such as Parabolic Implosion and Orthogonal Polynomials. She has held academic positions at Purdue University and conducted postdoctoral research at institutions including the Institute Henri Poincaré and Universidade Federal Fluminense. Vivas earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 2009.
Her teaching includes courses such as Honors Complex Analysis, Graduate Complex Analysis, and undergraduate Calculus. She actively participates in mentoring initiatives, co-organizing the Young Mathematicians Conference for undergraduates and contributing to the Women in Several Complex Variables Research Network (WinSCV). Vivas has also been involved in the AWM Poster Session at the Joint Mathematical Meetings, fostering graduate student engagement.
Her research explores topics like Bergman spaces, Hardy spaces, and geometric analysis, with over 15 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has collaborated extensively, including with researchers like Anne-Katrin Gallagher, Purvi Gupta, and Han Peters.
