Dr. Liz Sillence is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Northumbria University, where she has been since completing her PhD in 2003. She co-founded the Psychology and Communication Technologies (PaCT) Lab, focusing on eHealth and cybersecurity. Her work bridges psychology and digital technology, emphasizing trust, privacy, and health decision-making in online contexts.
Research interests include cybersecurity risks of digital data hoarding, trust in health information platforms, and the design of user-centered digital health tools. She leads modules in eHealth and supervises students across undergraduate, Masters, and PhD levels. Key projects include the Northern Health Futures Hub (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council-funded, £256k).
Liz’s recent publications address topics such as menopause apps, AI literacy in academia, and cybersecurity in healthcare. Her applied research aims to improve online health resource design while addressing privacy concerns.
