Liz Nathan is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Officer at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Medical School, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, based at King Edward Memorial Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Statistics from Murdoch University (2004) and a Master of Biostatistics from the University of Sydney (2015). Her research focuses on applying advanced statistical methodologies to healthcare projects in obstetrics, neonatology, anaesthetics, and paediatrics, including regression techniques, linear mixed modeling, and decision-analytic methods.
Key research interests include biostatistical analysis of clinical trials, neonatal sepsis epidemiology, environmental impacts on reproductive outcomes, and surgical outcomes for conditions like endometriosis. Recent work includes studies on virtual reality interventions for healthcare staff stress, probiotic efficacy in preterm infants, and air pollution effects on fertility.
Liz collaborates with clinicians, medical students, and hospital staff across multiple disciplines, providing statistical expertise to guide clinical decisions. She has contributed to over 75 peer-reviewed publications and a major grant-funded project on metabolomics in preterm birth. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
