Liz Millward is a Professor in the Women's and Gender Studies Program at the Faculty of Arts, University of Manitoba. Her research explores the intersecting histories of women's spaces, transportation networks, and LGBTQ+ geographies across Canada, the British Empire, and transnational contexts.

Her research programs focus on women's aviation networks in the British Empire and lesbian geography/culture in Canada (1964-1984). She examines how mobility and transportation infrastructure shaped gendered cultural development and community formation.
Liz's publications from 2016-2022 span themes of transnational lesbian networks, imperial aeromobility limits, and haunted spaces. Recent work connects affective activism with second-wave feminist organizing and analyzes intersections between Black Nationalism and lesbian communities.

She teaches courses on feminist thought, gender and transportation, women in military contexts, and leadership. Her work contributes to understanding spatial politics in feminist and queer histories.
