Liz Hirsch

Liz Hirsch is an Assistant Professor and Art History Minor Area Head in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Otis College of Art and Design. She holds a Ph.D. in Art History from The Graduate Center, CUNY (2021), an MA from Hunter College (2013), and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College (2006).

Her research focuses on artist networks, cultural intersections, and legacies of conceptual art in Los Angeles from 1973-1988. She also explores contemporary urbanism and artist identity in the context of the welfare state's decline. Her work bridges art history with interdisciplinary analysis of social and institutional frameworks.

Liz’s recent publications include reviews in Art in America, Artforum, and Frieze, as well as essays in edited volumes. Her writings examine contemporary exhibitions, conceptual art practices, and curatorial methodologies, reflecting her expertise in situating art within broader socio-political narratives.

Her writing appears in major art publications, and she has received grants and awards supporting her research and curatorial work.
