Liz Gerber is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering. She serves as Co-Director of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction + Design and the Delta Lab, and is the Founder of Design for America (DFA), a national network empowering students to design solutions for social challenges. Her research focuses on social computing systems, innovation processes, and the intersection of technology, creativity, and education.

Research Interests: Design and innovation; human-computer interaction; crowdsourcing; motivation; and collective innovation strategies. Her work emphasizes scaling equitable technological interventions and fostering innovation through collaborative platforms.

Labs & Initiatives: Leads the Delta Lab and oversees DFA, which has spawned impactful ventures like Sproutel’s Purrble. Collaborates on projects such as the Loft Digital Studio for education improvement and the COVID-19 Design Challenge with IBM and WDO.
