Dr. Liyang Yue is a Senior Lecturer in Laser Material Processing at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangor University. He holds a BSc in Electromechanical Engineering (South China University of Technology, 2008), an MSc in Advanced Manufacturing Systems (University of Liverpool, 2009), and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (University of Manchester, 2013). Since joining Bangor in 2015 as a Sêr Cymru National Research Network Early-Career Research Fellow, he has been recognized with the 2017 Royal Society Newton Prize shortlist and the Runner-up Newton Prize Vietnam 2017. His research focuses on laser material processing, micro 3D printing, and near-field optics, with notable contributions to metamaterials, photonic switches, and nanostructuring techniques. He leads projects funded by Bangor University Innovation and Impact Awards, exploring advancements in laser marking systems and photonic component cleaning.
