Dr. Livio Robaldo is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Law at Swansea University's Law School, specializing in Natural Language Processing and Information Representation. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Turin (2007) and previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Turin and the University of Luxembourg until 2020. His research focuses on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Law, including projects involving industry collaborations and three Marie Sklodowska-Curie H2020 projects. He teaches modules on Legal Technology, AI in Business Law, and Blockchain in Law. His work addresses compliance checking, legal reasoning, and regulatory frameworks.
Research interests include legal ontologies, automated compliance systems, and AI-driven legal analysis. Key areas of expertise span deontic logic, legal semantics, and explainable AI in legal contexts. Robaldo co-authored the 2022 Handbook of Legal AI and actively publishes in journals like Computer Law & Security Review and Artificial Intelligence and Law.
He is currently supervising a PhD project on regulatory compliance in Ghana's petroleum sector. His academic contributions bridge computational methods with legal challenges, emphasizing practical applications in healthcare, energy, and cybersecurity domains.
