Live Maria Roggen

Live Maria Roggen is a Norwegian improvising vocal jazz performer, composer, and professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music since 2006, becoming a full professor in 2012. Her work spans jazz vocals, improvised music, and traditional Nordic folk music, with a focus on intuitive and structured improvisation.

Roggen’s research and artistic practice emphasize improvisation, blending jazz, Nordic folk, and electronic elements. Recent projects include (un)Romantic (2021-2024) and collaborations with Trondheim Voices and Wild&Art, exploring collective improvisation and durational performances. Her publications highlight concerts and albums, reflecting her dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to music and education.
