Lisette de Pillis is a Professor of Mathematics and holds the Norman F. Sprague Chaired Professorship of Life Sciences at Harvey Mudd College. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from UCLA. Her research focuses on applying mathematical models to real-world problems, transitioning from computational fluid dynamics and parallel computing to mathematical biology and cancer immunology. She collaborates across disciplines with biologists and oncologists to develop novel cancer treatments and HIV therapies.
- Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics, UCLA
Her research interests emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex biological and medical challenges. She has been recognized for her work with the Maria Goeppert-Mayer Distinguished Scholar award from Argonne National Laboratory in 2000, a rare honor for a mathematician. Her contributions bridge mathematics, life sciences, and clinical applications.
Her office is located in Shanahan 3418, and she can be contacted via depillis@hmc.edu or 909-621-8975.
