معرفی
Professor Lise Øvreås is affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Bergen and holds an adjunct position at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). Her research focuses on microbial diversity, population dynamics, and community ecology in extreme environments such as deep-sea hydrothermal vents, Arctic soils, and permafrost. She employs interdisciplinary approaches combining microbiology, ecology, informatics, and mathematics to study microbial adaptation to environmental stressors.
Research Interests:
- Microbial diversity and distribution across environmental gradients
- Biogeochemical cycles and microbial contributions to carbon/nitrogen cycling
- Antibiotic resistance in Arctic and marine environments
- Microbial responses to climate change and anthropogenic impacts
Recent Work: Her recent studies include characterization of novel antibiotic resistance genes in Arctic fjords, analysis of multidrug-resistant bacteria in sewage-impacted marine environments, and investigations into methanotrophs in Arctic methane seeps. She also explores microbial communities in glacial forefields and permafrost thaw processes.
Awards/Grants: While specific awards are not listed, her extensive publication record indicates sustained research impact. Funding sources include projects on Arctic microbiology and environmental monitoring.
Labs/Teams: Leads projects at UiB’s Department of Biological Sciences, collaborating with international teams on Arctic and marine microbiology initiatives.
