Lise Shapiro Sanders is a Professor of English Literature & Cultural Studies at Hampshire College. She earned her B.A. from Hampshire College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago. Her research spans British literature, feminist theory, film studies, and gender/sexuality intersections in cultural history.

Sanders specializes in 19th- and 20th-century British literature, periodical culture, and feminist theory, with a focus on working-class women’s agency in interwar Britain. Her recent courses explore archival research methods and critical analysis of race, gender, and sexuality in global cinema.
