Lise Hounsgaard is a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark (Department of Clinical Research, Faculty of Health Sciences) and Head of Research at the University of Greenland (Institute of Nursing & Health Science). Her work integrates nursing, qualitative methods, and global health with a focus on Arctic regions.

Her research spans psychiatric treatment, chronic illness care, and telemedicine in remote areas. Key projects include SimLEARN (patient safety), studies on mechanical restraint in forensic psychiatry, and qualitative analyses of family experiences with Parkinson’s disease.
Recent articles highlight her work on telemedicine in Greenland, emotional resilience in cancer care, and person-centered approaches in geriatrics. She emphasizes field research, participant observation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
