Dr. Lisa van Reemst is an Assistant Professor at the Criminology Department, Faculty of Law, VU Amsterdam. She holds a BSc in Psychology (2009) and an MSc in Social Psychology (cum laude, 2010) from Utrecht University. Her career includes roles as a researcher/lecturer at Erasmus University Rotterdam (2011–2021), where she earned her PhD in March 2020. She collaborates with the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) and leads the Dutch victimology network (ViNe). Her research focuses on aggression against employees (especially police), employee-citizen interactions, psychological characteristics, and victimization.
**Teaching**: Currently teaches courses like Multivariate Analysis, Theoretical Criminology, and Victimology. Previously taught statistics and criminology courses at Erasmus University. She coordinated the research skills program there (2019–2021).
**Research**: Over 35 publications, including a 2023 book on victimology. Key topics include workplace aggression, emergency responders' safety, and de-escalation strategies in policing. She presents frequently on these topics, such as at conferences in 2023–2024.
**Affiliations**: Member of the editorial board of Tijdschrift voor Criminologie, organizer of the Victimology Division (NVC), and member of the Taskforce for Safe Healthcare Workers. She also contributes to ancillary activities like ViNe (via Fonds Slachtofferhulp).
