Lisa Wozniak-Vitale is an Associate Professor in the Department of World Languages & Literatures at Southern Connecticut State University. She holds a Ph.D. from 2008 with a dissertation on Catherine of Siena's identity construction through medieval literature. Her research focuses on medieval Italian literature, spiritual literature, and second language pedagogy. She has presented at major conferences including the International Congress on Medieval Studies and NeMLA. Notable publications include analyses of Catherine of Siena’s dietary practices and symbolic landscapes in religious texts. Vitale has received a Junior Faculty Research Fellowship and actively participates in academic discourse through presentations on topics like the Palio of Siena and orality in early modern religious texts.
Her teaching interests emphasize Italian language and literature. Research highlights include explorations of medieval female mystics and the intersection of literature with religious authority. She has contributed to scholarly volumes such as Table Talk: Perspectives on Food in Medieval Italian Literature.
