Lisa Van Hove is a Researcher at the Department of Psychology within the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Her work focuses on self-injurious behavior, geriatric psychiatry, mental health, and psychosocial characteristics across the lifespan. She holds a PhD in Psychology (2024) and has conducted extensive research on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and suicidal ideation in older adults, contributing to understanding risk factors and clinical interventions.
Van Hove's research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods, collaborating with institutions like the Brussels University Consultation Center and the End-of-Life Care Research Group. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, including high-impact studies in Journal of Personality Disorders and Clinical Gerontologist. Her work has been recognized through awards such as the Faculty Staff Mobility Fund (2024–2025) and the ISSS Student Award 2024.
Her research highlights include exploring personality profiles linked to self-harm in older adults, cross-cultural studies on NSSI, and school-based interventions for adolescents. She actively participates in conferences, podcasts, and public lectures to disseminate findings and engage communities. Van Hove’s contributions bridge clinical practice, policy, and education, particularly in fostering resilience and addressing mental health challenges in diverse populations.
