Lisa Tedrow

Lisa Tedrow is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing at the School of Nursing, University of Michigan-Flint, serving as Lead Faculty for Maternity Nursing in the Undergraduate Program while teaching courses across the RN-to-BSN curriculum. With 30 years of nursing experience including two decades in education and professional development, her expertise centers on maternal-child health systems and clinical competency training.

Her academic credentials include:

• D.N.P. in Healthcare Systems Leadership from Chamberlain University College of Nursing (2021)
• M.S.N. with Education Concentration from Michigan State University (2008)
• B.S.N. from Wayne State University (1995)

Dr. Tedrow's research focuses on evidence-based maternal-child health interventions, particularly postpartum depression screening using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, simulation training for obstetric emergencies, and innovative competency assessment through escape rooms. Her clinical certifications span Maternal-Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN), High Risk Neonatal Nursing (RNC-NIC), and Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), complemented by recent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training.

Her accolades include the Carol Beal Robinson Nursing Scholarship, Helen Calder Nursing Scholarship, and the Living Our Values (LOV) Award recognizing institutional impact.

As Co-Investigator on the $25,000 American Association of Colleges of Nursing grant Innovation in Nursing Education: Measuring Competency Through Escape Rooms and Simulations (2024-2025), she pioneers simulation-based pedagogy. Her 20+ years coordinating interprofessional education at Ascension Genesys Hospital established foundational work in high-fidelity emergency response training.

Through leadership in the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses and International Association of Forensic Nurses, she advances clinical standards while directly shaping next-generation nursing professionals through curriculum development and clinical mentorship.
