Dr. Lisa Sparks serves as the Executive Director of the First-Year Experience at South Carolina State University, focusing on student retention and bridging academic support services with faculty. She holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, a Master of Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Management.
Her career spans over 15 years in public education in the U.S. and Seoul, Korea, alongside leadership roles in higher education. She has held positions as an academic advisor, director of Testing and Disability Services, and instructor in First-Generation Mentor/Mentee programs. Sparks has pioneered centralized advising models and presented at national conferences like the National Academic Advising Association (NAAA).
