Lisa Rae, MD, FACS is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, where she serves as Chief of Burn Surgery. Her clinical expertise spans Burn Surgery and Trauma Surgery, with a focus on burn injuries, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery.
Dr. Rae received her MD from UMDNJ: New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. She completed her Residency in Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., followed by Fellowships in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care and Burn Surgery at the University of Washington, Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA.
Her research focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of burn shock, outreach and education, and continuing medical education with emphasis on how physicians change practice patterns. Recently, Dr. Rae has been actively involved in addressing the growing issue of xylazine (Tranq)-related skin wounds, providing expert perspective to the Philadelphia Inquirer on the severity of these wounds and the resulting rise in amputations.

Dr. Rae maintains active board certification by the American Board of Surgery in both Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Burn Association, and American Medical Association. Her clinical practice operates from Temple General & Trauma Surgery and the Temple Burn Center in Philadelphia.
