معرفی
Dr. Lisa Mullen is an Associate Professor in Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), part of the University of Sussex. She holds a PhD from the University of London and has expertise in metabolic biochemistry, innate immunity, and cytokine biology. Her research focuses on inflammation mechanisms in autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, with emphasis on redox regulation and engineered cytokine therapies.
Dr. Mullen’s academic background includes postdoctoral work at UCL, Imperial College London, and Barts Medical School. She currently leads biochemistry teaching in BSMS modules 103/104 and oversees Phase 1 of the undergraduate BM BS program. Her research group investigates redox-driven inflammation and develops LAP-fusion protein therapies targeting osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Key research areas include oxidative stress in chronic inflammation, NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and targeted enzyme delivery systems. She has secured grants from the MRC and UKRI for projects like TIMP-3 fusion protein therapy and studying brain-economy links through occupational neuroscience.
