Dr Lisa Ho is a Lecturer and Program Coordinator (Biomedical Science) at the School of Health Sciences within the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Her academic career spans virology research, teaching, and roles in technology transfer and commercialization.
- 1994 PhD in Virology from the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, National University of Singapore
- 1990s teaching at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore
- Technology Transfer with Cancer Research UK's subsidiary in Singapore
Dr Ho's research focuses on the evolution and epidemiology of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Type-16, particularly its co-evolution with human populations. Her work explores genetic drift, sequence variants, and sexual transmission mechanisms, contributing to understanding cervical cancer etiology and viral spread dynamics.
Her publications from 1991-1993 highlight interdisciplinary research at the intersection of virology, molecular biology, and evolutionary genetics, emphasizing phylogenetic analysis and global epidemiology of HPV.
Dr Ho has collaborated with academic institutions and industry partners, including big pharma and medical device corporations, to commercialize scientific discoveries.
