Dr. Lisa M. Burns is a Professor of Media Studies at Quinnipiac University, holding a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Maryland at College Park. She teaches courses including Media, History & Memory; Political Communication; and Celebrity Culture.
Her research focuses on political communication, media coverage of U.S. presidents and first ladies, collective memory, and media criticism. She has published extensively on press framing of presidential spouses and political messaging strategies.
Her scholarly contributions include analysis of Eleanor Roosevelt's autobiographies and candidate branding in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. She serves on the board of the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill and is active in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
