Lisa A. DeLouise

Lisa A. DeLouise, Ph.D., M.P.D., is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Dermatology, Biomedical Engineering (joint appointment), and Electrical & Computer Engineering (joint appointment) at the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on nanomaterial toxicology, skin immune responses, and developing microphysiological systems for drug discovery. She leads the DeLouise Bio-nanomaterials Lab, which investigates nanoparticle interactions with skin and environmental pollutants, as well as tissue chip technologies for high-throughput screening.

Research Interests:

• Environmental impacts of nanomaterials/microplastics on skin health
• Nanoparticle modulation of immune responses in allergic dermatitis
• Salivary gland tissue chip development for radioprotection drug screening
• Microbubble array technology for single-cell analysis and antibody discovery

Lab Members: Includes graduate students and researchers working on projects such as organ-on-a-chip systems, microplastic toxicity models, and cancer stem cell sorting using microbubble arrays. Current trainees include Hossein Abolhassani, Alma Avila Oropeza, Chiao Yun Chen, and others.

Funding: Supported by grants from the NIH/NIAID, NSF, UR CTSI, and NYSTAR. Active collaborations with organizations like Nidus MB Technologies for commercializing microbubble array technology.
