Lip Sy Choo

Lip Sy Choo is a Senior Lecturer in Financial Reporting and Operational Lead for the Finance & Economics division at Sheffield Hallam University's Sheffield Business School. He holds a BA(Hons), MSc, FCCA (Fellow of ACCA), and FHEA (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy). His expertise includes International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), financial accounting, and corporate reporting education. He teaches modules such as Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting and Financial Accounting & Reporting at undergraduate levels, supporting ACCA/CIMA professional exemptions.

He won the 2021 College of Business, Technology & Engineering Inspirational Teaching Award. His external roles include External Examiner at York St John University, ACCA Foundations in Audit marker, and Panel Member of the ACCA Public and Not-for-Profit Sector Community.

Research interests focus on aligning academic teaching with professional accounting standards. He contributed to the CO2e Written verification standard creation (2022) and authored an advanced financial accounting textbook (2017). His work bridges academic rigor with industry compliance needs in sustainability and reporting.
