Linnea Polgreen is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Iowa (2004) and previously served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the College of Business (2004-2007). Her research focuses on cardiovascular risk factors, hypertension treatment, healthcare costs, and mobile health interventions, leveraging machine learning and digital health tools. She collaborates with the Statistical Epidemiology Group to analyze large healthcare datasets.
Key research areas include pharmacist-led interventions for blood pressure management, opioid prescribing patterns and overdose risks, and weather-related health outcomes like urinary tract infections and cellulitis. She has pioneered remote monitoring technologies using Fitbit and text messaging for chronic disease management.
Her recent work examines documentation gaps in hypertension care, opioid-related family risks, and disparities in cardiovascular treatment. Polgreen has contributed to national workshops on hypertension control and led randomized trials evaluating pharmacist interventions in primary care settings.
