Linling Chen is a Senior Adviser and Researcher affiliated with the Department of Earth Science at the University of Bergen. She assists Prof. Eystein Jansen, Vice-President of the European Research Council (ERC), focusing on research administration, EU funding support, and proposal development guidance. Her work bridges administrative roles with academic research, emphasizing climate change in the Arctic, Greenland Ice Sheet dynamics, and atmospheric teleconnections.
Chen holds a PhD in Meteorology and has extensive expertise in Arctic climate systems. Her research investigates climate amplification patterns, cyclonic impacts on ice sheets, and extreme weather linkages. She teaches proposal writing at the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and actively contributes to international climate initiatives, including the Arctic Council and the World Climate Research Programme.
Her publications span over 14 years, addressing topics like storm surges, snow albedo radiative forcing, and Arctic shipping routes. She collaborates with institutions globally, including the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Centre and the University of Lincoln. Chen’s work underscores the interplay between climate science and policy, aiming to inform sustainable practices amid rapid environmental changes.
