Lingyu Yu

Dr. Lingyu Yu is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina's Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing, with cross-appointments in Nuclear and Aerospace Engineering. She directs the Civic Laboratory for Environmental Action Research (CLEAR), developing advanced structural health monitoring methodologies.

Her research creates non-destructive evaluation systems using ultrasonic guided waves, piezoelectric sensors, and scanning laser vibrometry. Current innovations include non-contact air-coupled transducer systems for nuclear infrastructure, adversarial transformer networks for damage pattern detection, and engineered composite repair solutions. Applications span aerospace, nuclear safety, and civil infrastructure.
