Lingxiao Wang is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University, affiliated with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kentucky (2021), an MS in Economics from Ocean University of China (2017), a BS in Economics from Central China Normal University (2014), and a BA in Philosophy (2014) from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He completed an Erasmus+ exchange at Romania's National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (2016) and conducted doctoral research at Cornell University's Dyson School (2020).
His research focuses on the interplay between agricultural policies, consumer behavior, and long-term health outcomes using scanner data. Key themes include grocery taxation's impact on obesity/diabetes, tobacco/beer markets, and plant-based meat alternatives' demand dynamics. Recent work explores how food taxes affect consumer choices and health, with studies showing grocery taxes correlate with higher obesity rates and ACA Medicaid expansion reducing cigarette consumption despite anti-smoking product use.
Teaching experience includes independent instruction at the University of Kentucky (Business Statistics, Software Analysis) and TA roles at Cornell and the University of Kentucky. His pedagogical philosophy emphasizes student engagement through immersive, context-driven learning, informed by Confucian principles of active participation.
Current research projects include spatial grocery tax competition, non-meat labeling impacts, and electronic benefit transfers' role in food assistance. He advises no formally listed students but collaborates widely on policy-related projects.
