Lindsey Haynes-Maslow

Lindsey Haynes-Maslow is an Associate Professor and Director of Master’s Programs in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with an adjunct appointment in Nutrition.

Education:

Research Interests: Dr. Haynes-Maslow specializes in policies driving healthy behaviors in disinvested communities, focusing on the public health-nutrition intersection. Her 15+ years of expertise spans diet-related chronic disease prevention for low-income, rural, and communities of color, alongside addressing vaccine hesitancy through social marketing campaigns in underserved populations.

Scientific Awards:

• Humana Foundation Health Equity Research Grant (2023) for a $250,000 study on meal-delivery and social-connectedness programs for low-income seniors

Advising and Grants: She provides technical assistance to 24 land-grant universities (including HBCUs and tribal colleges) on reducing adult vaccine hesitancy, hosts workshops for students and researchers on policy/media communication, and leads a Humana-funded initiative examining how meal delivery impacts mental/physical health in isolated seniors.

Labs and Teams: Collaborated with CDC, USDA, and The Extension Foundation as Market Research Lead for national vaccine education; previously managed North Carolina State University’s statewide SNAP-Education nutrition program and worked with Durham VA’s Center for Health Promotion & Disease Prevention.
