Dr. Lindsay Hastings is the Clifton Professor in Mentoring Research and Research Director for NHRI Leadership Mentoring at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln within the Department of Agricultural Leadership. She teaches courses in interpersonal skills for leadership, leadership theory, and leadership development while co-coordinating the Leadership and Entrepreneurship Minor.
Her educational background includes:
- B.S. in Secondary Math Education (2004) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- M.S. in Leadership Education (2007) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- Ph.D. in Education Leadership in Higher Education (2012) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Dr. Hastings' research centers on leadership mentoring through generativity and social responsibility, community leadership development, and youth leadership. She investigates how mentoring relationships impact college and K-12 student leaders via the NHRI Leadership Mentoring program that pairs outstanding student leaders across educational levels.
Her scientific achievements include:
- Dr. Ron Joekel Research Award for research on generativity in college student leaders resulting from mentoring relationships
Dr. Hastings is currently accepting new graduate students. Through University of Nebraska Extension, she provides research expertise to Extension Issue Teams, delivers research-based presentations on leadership and community development, and collaborates with partners to develop leadership programming.
As Research Director for NHRI Leadership Mentoring, she oversees a program facilitating one-to-one mentoring relationships between college and K-12 student leaders to foster cross-generational leadership development.
