Lindsay Bracken serves as a Professor of Exercise & Sport Science within the School of Arts & Sciences at Oklahoma City University, teaching foundational courses including ESS 1302 Wellness, ESS 1602 Introduction to Kinesiology and Exercise Studies, ESS 2413 Theory of Coaching, ESS 4012 Health Promotion in the Workplace, and ESS 4483 Exercise Science Internship. She holds dual professional certifications as a Certified Health Education Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist.
Her research program centers on two critical domains: sports injury epidemiology in underrepresented athletic populations (particularly NCAA male cheerleaders) and geriatric exercise science. She investigates injury patterns, stunt-related risks, and prevention strategies in collegiate cheerleading while simultaneously exploring health behavior determinants, wheelchair-based exercise mechanics for older adults, and student preparedness for geriatric care. This interdisciplinary work bridges kinesiology, public health, and behavioral science to address wellness across the lifespan.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a consistent trajectory in sports injury research through multiple conference presentations and journal articles, alongside growing contributions to aging and disability-inclusive fitness. Her work demonstrates methodological rigor in epidemiological studies of niche athletic populations while translating findings into practical applications for workplace health promotion and therapeutic recreation.
