Linden Hu is the Paul and Elaine Chervinsky Professor of Immunology at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he holds a joint appointment in Molecular Biology and Microbiology. His research focuses on Lyme disease, specifically the pathogenesis of Borrelia burgdorferi and host immune responses.
- Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (1990), Brown University
- Artium Baccalaureatus (1987), Brown University
Research Interests include:
- Understanding Borrelia burgdorferi adaptation to host environments
- Host immune recognition and inflammatory pathology
- Vaccine development and improved diagnostics
- Reservoir elimination strategies for tick-borne pathogens
- Role of human genetic mutations in inflammation
Article Trends (2025–2022) span immunology, microbiology, and infectious diseases, emphasizing:
- Borrelia immune evasion mechanisms
- Transcriptomic and metabolic modeling approaches
- Comparative host responses across species
- Reservoir-targeted antibiotic and vaccine strategies
Grants and Professional Activities include long-term NIH funding for persistence studies, DoD collaborations on prophylactic vaccines, and leadership roles in Lyme disease working groups. He has taught Intro to Infectious Diseases at Tufts since 2011 and served as Vice Dean for Research (2017–2022).
