Linda Tesar is the Alan V. Deardorff Collegiate Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan and Senior Faculty Advisor to the LSA Dean on Strategic Budgetary Affairs. She holds affiliations with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) as Co-Director of its International Finance and Macroeconomics Program and is a research affiliate with institutions such as the Centre for Economic Policy Research. Her roles include advising the Federal Reserve Banks of Chicago and New York and serving as Editor of the IMF Economic Review.
- Education: Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Rochester (1990 and 1988).
- Research Focus: International finance, macroeconomics, global risksharing, capital flows, tax competition, and the euro area.
Her work has been published in top journals like the American Economic Review and Journal of International Economics. She actively advocates for equity in economics, including co-authoring a landmark study on gender salary parity at U-M.
- Awards: 2023 Susan B. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to equity in academia.
- Engagement: Served on the Council of Economic Advisers (2014-2015) and promotes diversity in economics through leadership roles.
