Linda Strommen

Linda Strommen is Professor of Music (Oboe) at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, with concurrent guest faculty appointments at The Juilliard School (20 years), Interlochen Arts Camp, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar. She holds a Master of Music (1979) and Bachelor of Music (1978) from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied under renowned oboist John Mack.

Research Focus

Strommen specializes in oboe performance and pedagogy, emphasizing the expansion of contemporary repertoire through commissions. She has premiered works including Eric Ewazen's concerti Down a River of Time and Hold Fast Your Dreams, with recordings featured on major labels. Her research integrates chamber music collaboration and orchestral performance techniques.

Teaching Legacy
