Linda Kuschel is a Junior Professor for Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law, and Law and Digitalization at Bucerius Law School since 2019. Her research focuses on copyright law, AI regulation, and the intersection of digitalization with traditional legal frameworks. She is also a co-editor of the Zeitschrift für Geistiges Eigentum and the Global and Comparative Data Law book series.

Kuschel’s research explores how territorial legal principles adapt to digital challenges, including AI-generated works, intermediary liability, and sustainability in intellectual property. She emphasizes the balance between creator protections and public access rights while addressing digital sovereignty issues.
Her recent work includes analyzing AI regulation’s impact on copyright territoriality, legal aspects of IT security research, and cross-border jurisdiction for social media content. She contributes to debates on platform liability and the copyright status of machine-generated works.

Kuschel teaches at Bucerius Law School and has lectured internationally in Warsaw, Paris, and Wrocław. She co-founded the Bucerius IP Colloquium to foster academic exchange on intellectual property and digital law, collaborating with institutions like HU Berlin and LMU Munich.
