معرفی
Dr. Linda King is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Department in the School of Life Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU). With over six years at ARU and prior teaching experience at the University of Cambridge, she specializes in biomedical sciences. Her research focuses on metabolic disorders in cardiovascular disease and diabetes, alongside pedagogical innovation. She holds memberships in the Biomedical Research Group and supervises research in cardiac pathophysiology and educational methodologies.
Education:
- BSc (Hons) Physiology and Genetics – University of the Witwatersrand
- MSc Medicine – University of Cape Town
- PhD Medicine – University of Cape Town
- PGCert Higher Education – Anglia Ruskin University
Research Interests: Dr. King investigates molecular mechanisms underlying myocardial ischaemia, insulin signalling defects in diabetes, and lipotoxicity. Her pedagogical work explores problem-solving integration in undergraduate curricula. Key areas include:
- Cell and Molecular Biology of metabolic diseases
- Glucose metabolism perturbations in cardiac tissue
- Innovative teaching strategies in biomedical education
Publications: Her work spans cardiovascular physiology, diabetes research, and evolutionary genetics, with recent studies on corneal transplantation and melanocortin receptors. Publications demonstrate consistent focus on molecular mechanisms in disease models across high-impact journals.
Awards:
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology
Academic Activities: Dr. King leads multiple undergraduate modules including Core Biology, Human Pathology, and Molecular Cell Biology. She mentors students in metabolic research and pedagogical projects through the Biomedical Research Group.
