Dr. Linda Buck is a Nobel Laureate and Professor at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center's Basic Sciences Division, with affiliate appointments at the University of Washington. Her pioneering research on the olfactory system earned her the 2004 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Her laboratory investigates neural coding mechanisms for smell and their connections to physiology and behavior. Current projects examine how odors influence stress responses, appetite regulation, and neuroendocrine pathways using innovative neural circuit mapping techniques.
Dr. Buck has received numerous honors including the Gairdner International Award and Perl/UNC Neuroscience Prize. Her work continues to reveal how sensory inputs regulate instinctive behaviors and physiological states through specialized neural circuits.
