Lina Schelin is an Associate Professor in Statistics at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE), Umeå University. She holds a Docent (higher doctorate) and is a Recognised University Teacher. Her primary affiliation is within the Statistics Section, focusing on interdisciplinary research and teaching.
Her research integrates functional data analysis with biomechanical applications, particularly in human movement studies. She co-leads the U-Motion Laboratory, exploring ACL injury rehabilitation, gait analysis post-stroke, and musculoskeletal mechanics. Methodological contributions include statistical inference for functional data and reliability assessment of kinematic measurements.
Teaching expertise spans statistics education at all levels, including pedagogical development projects. She has contributed to curricula like a communication course for statistics students and evaluation frameworks for gait analysis.
Administrative roles include Deputy Member of the Faculty Board (Social Sciences, 2023–present) and Appointment Committee (2021–2023). Awards include the USBE Pedagogical Prize 2022 for teaching excellence.
